  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MARGIN CALL opens Friday

My wife and I just watched Margin Call on Apple TV and LOVED it.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll give it a try tonight...

UPDATE: Just to be clear, in the US, Margin Call is on iTunes !!!! You can watch/rent it immediately ($6.99 for an HD stream).

Took a while to download with the crappy connection here at the resort, but I was able to watch it tonight.

I though the footage itself looked great, perhaps the best Red One MX film I've seen yet. (There was some banding in the compressed video on the Apple TV, but I'm assuming that's not present in the original.) Skin tones looked fantastic and overall was nice and contrasty, with good color and grading and camerawork.

Nicely done!

I saw Margin Call at Sundance Film Festival. It is a must see, for sure. The film was shot in 17 days.

There isn't any banding on the source 1080 file we created from the SR tape, must be compression down the pipeline...

Another indie I'll have to pirate.... Is there any chance of worldwide distribution. I dont want to wait for the blu-ray tbh.

Pirates disgust me. I have no respect for you at all. I also feel you should be permanently banned from Reduser, but that is not my call.

I for one will go out and see this film and support indie cinema rather than brag about stealing from people who often barely get by as it is. It looks like a wonderful film. I hope it makes bazillions, despite the actions of contemptible losers like you.

Sorry

Sorry

I'm sorry but I'm going to go against the flow here and say the movie was a huge disapointment. It was a solid movie with great acting ensemble. But the story I thought was weak and a little boring which was surprising to me as I'm fasinated by the economics behind the story.

Saying that and not because people involved are on this forum but I think it is one of the best looking movies I've seen shot on RED. Definitely up there with Social Network. I didn't think for a second that it wasn't shot on film honestly. I'm surprised it was. I wouldn't be surprised if this is nominated for an Oscar for Cinematography. Makes me hopeful for what can be achieved when I get a Scarlet.

Just an opinion but it seems like the Red MX excels in low light which shows in this movie as well as The Social Network.

Another movie I want to see!!!

Graeme

for it being Shot on RED... other than than, it will infuriate you with how much these people abused the system and created this $60T cluster fuck that our kids kids kids will still be paying for... :(
Great movie... depressing as hell subject matter

MARGIN CALL just showed up in my On Demand.

Great movie!

Tense, high stakes, terrific performances, loved the cinematography and the skin tones were perfect.

The closing scene could have been better, it fell off the suspense cliff a little too fast. It felt a little misplaced relative to the film (nicely shot, though).

Congratulations, Mark, on being part of a really good movie.

Gut-wrenching times we live in, and this is one of the very few films to capture the zeitgeist....we need more films like it, that take risks and tell the truth.

My wife and I saw this film at BAM two weeks ago. It was good! Zachary Quinto was awesome. Did anyone read the American Cinematographer article on the making of? Shot in 11 days, mostly in the same building, different floors/offices subbing for different locations. They taped ND to all t the windows so the city was always in the background. Anyway. It was great. Long live indie movies with a message.
