  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Manure

Anyone have had the chance to see "Manure"?
I really want to see David's work. (Edit: His work on "Manure")

The same here and no changes!

I have had Manure in my DVD Q in Netflix for what seems like an eternity. As of now, still not available.

I had the rare opportunity to see it parts of it in 4k, projected at Red Studios Hollywood. That was when they first opened up the place (January 2009?), and they happened to have LI in there showing off clips. After talking with some of the Red folks between sessions, I happened to look up and see a very recognizable shot on the screen. It took me a second to realize that I recognized it because I was the one who pointed the camera for that shot. LI happened to have a couple of clips of it loaded up in their station and were playing around inbetween sessions. I pressed Ian to show as much of it as he had.

It looked as good as you can guess, and it was a M sensor, build 15!

I heard the film was finished in 2k, so theres only a few who were able to see it in full 4k, and certainly not many who saw it projected 40'.

Manure now in Theaters and VOD

Manure now in Theaters and VOD

Having served as 2nd Unit DP on "Manure", now entitled "Smell of Success" I received this notice from the Producer of it's limited release. I know many REDusers will be eager to see it after following this thread ever since the movie was first in production. Bear in mind that this is not the Directors cut, and David may not have had a chance to participate in the final color correction since I believe there was a falling out between the various Filmmakers. At any rate, with David's fine Cinematography, it should still be a visual treat which I look forward to seeing for the first time this week.

David,

As always, you provide fantastic insight into what it's like being a top-end DoP and still be working on insane schedules. Your work consistently blows me away, and the best part about it is that its simple. Thanks for all the inspiration over and over.

Cheers!

So is this why directors should always have final cut in their contract?
