In a Maundy Thursday...

As Portuguese native and close relative of a longlife friend, my merci, Kristin : )

I had the luck to have personally met him and to have been with this master a few other times on the phone in good talks and remarkable cinema lessons I will never forget... Beyond his interest on everything related to motion picture, including digital age. Hard to find such a filmmaker who had started in silent celluloid among others in touch with Lang, Eisenstein, one of them, his Producer going with talkies; later Color (he even went to learn the craft in the AGFA lab in Germany, go figure) and finally, Digital, working until his 105 years old... almost as much as his unique imagerie.

Even though, not my words this time, some of us have been defending this idea even before Internet... Definitely not his most recent mark, as much as Fellini with his late work, but his legacy to the history of this art is out there as trace of his modernism.

Emmanuel, thank you for your testimony. You were very lucky to know him personally. His work is truly wonderful, even his latest films, amongst them : O Estranho Caso de Angélica.
