Don't have enough $ to get a steadicam just yet so I decided to get a monopod. Let me tell you all for $60 this is a great alternative to handheld! Carrying the Scarlet can be cumbersome and this honestly makes it a hell of a lot easier!

I don't always like to carry my sticks around so this thing is going to get a lot of use and it screws right into the 3/8"

Just FYI

Take care for now.

Thanks for the tip. The 679B monopod has a load capacity rated up to 22lbs, and reviews report it's built like a tank.
I think I may just go try one out... :gnorsi:

Thanks for pointing it out! Can't always lug around the Sachtler, so nice to have an alt!

The monopod is so overlooked and underrated. I use my scarlet on a monopod all the time. You can get really steady shots, move quickly, and curb fatigue easily. good thread.

9lb limit isn't a problem AJ?

Like the bottom/feet idea...

B&H lists a similar Oben monopod with three extendable mini-legs that has a 26.4 lb load capacity. The down-side is that the legs fold up inside the bottom of the monopod. They have to be unscrewed, pulled out of the base, flipped over, screwed back in and extended. Somewhat inconvenient, but, I suppose it would still be nice to have them available when you had time to set them up. With the legs extended the monopod would not always be vertical and you can't just rotate the whole monopod so you would probably also need their accessory ball head.
