I've shot stills for with my Mamiya RZ67 ProII kit for a long time now but these days I'm happily finding myself working with a RED One on indie films more and more. We have a PL mount that normally runs our RED 18-50mm and a Nikon mount to run assorted Nikon lenses. But it got me to thinking while switching out these mounts... sure would be nice to run my Mamiya lenses on the RED.

I'm not aware of anyone even making a mount that will run Mamiya lenses. On top of that there would be issues with the size of the lens and the sensor size I'm guessing.

Thoughts anyone? Just batting around the idea and would be curious to know if anyone else has run MF format glass on their RED One...and if so.. how and what other issues did you have to consider when doing so (back focus, image/sensor size etc.)?

cheers,

Wait a minute...

RZ lenses don't have focus ring, it's of no use to camera don't have bellow focusing (I guess it will breath too much to implement). I don't think even Epic 645 will use those lenses.

There is adaptor to Nikon, for Mamiya 645 lenses, or Hasselblad's if you want medium format lenses.

Jose,
Thanks for giving me the reality slapdown! :D

You're right... for some reason I forget that my RZ is a bellows focus. Jeez.
That blows my idea out of the water. Hmmm... back to the drawing board. :clown2:

Do not give up hope, I am looking at making a bellows focus adapter for the RZ lenses. The gearing would work like a follow focus. The key will be getting the support correct to allow this to handle the weight and flow smooth. These are great, fast lenses and if this would work for the new Epic 645 would give us great glass at a fair price.
