  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Major improvement... free as usual.

The upgrade will mean less noise and better colors as the image is pushed to very high ISO. The amount hasn't been quantified yet so I can't answer the "how much" question. We think the noise level and color science that is current is pretty darn good. This just makes everything better.

Jim, is it related to techniques like this:

Hello!

Slightly off-topic but how does running multiple rocket cards work out? That must be insane speedwise.

Can't wait to see the new firmware upgrade! Packing my camera up to send in the for the MX / Rocket bundle tomorrow! Woo hoo!

Best!

Bump - any idea on when?

Bump - any idea on when?

So ... any idea when we can expect this to change everything (again) :)?

has there been an update on this promised improvement? i'm excited about epic but i can actually shoot my red-mx right now.

alright, i'll shut up and go shoot now.

I might be late on the RED train and I am only able to afford a non MX R1 currently, but by crikey, I am looking forward to the ride.... What an exciting REDvolution to be part of!

(Mere weeks now before I have enough saved to put my order in!).

A non-MX Red is still a GREAT cam with crazy latitude bettered only by an Alexa and an F35, and of course an Mxed Red which is pretty much as good as you can get at any price until Epic ships.

You can always MX later - I think you will find that it pays for itself pretty fast in saved light rentals and longer shoot days.

This wasn't related to the HDRx announcement, was it?

oh hey, i forgot about this. I was just wondering to myself the other day if Build30 is the last major Red1 build and I guess not. Any update on when this Build X is coming? No rush, I'm extremely happy with Build30, just curious when we can expect it all to change.

We got the bluechannel update for M, which was very nice, and I really think we haven't seen the last R1 builds. For MX it is only one release build so far (30.5).

But some have to focus on those new babies, too.

I do remember a cryptic post a while back where someone had thanked Jim for the amazing new features in an unreleased build, and Jim or someone responded by politely asking them not to disclose those features as the person had apparently almost done in contravention of whatever alpha tester agreement they must have signed up to.

So yeah, given we haven't seen RedFilm colour space/science yet among other things, I think there's definitely more life left in the old girl yet! :D

Cheers,

Paul
