  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Major Announcement- July 6th

So many possibilities. Flying car would fit, but that seems too crazy, even for the Madman. I was hoping for next generation data storage, but hard to see how that would impact travel. Perhaps it's a energy conversion technology that would provide massive amounts of power with minimal consumption of resources, ala cold fusion.

Whatever it is, I applaud the Madman for looking at the bigger picture and swinging for the fences. Most of the world's largest entities have little concern beyond next quarter's numbers. IMO, true innovation usually requires a level of risk public companies eschew. RED Digital, in part, came to life because Jim believed in the concept and didn't have to convince a board of directors that it would pay off quickly. These days very few people have the vision, resources, leadership skills and free hand to drive significant change. Those few, like Jim, who are agents of meaningful progress, deserve our support. Just hope I can be #19 in the queue again ;-)

Cheers - #19
I think Jim stopped short of Cold Fusion like discovery.

Everything lines up to it being AR/VR related.

Think about it. This is a guy that made a sunglasses company and then a camera company. He made a pair of sunglasses once with integrated earbuds.
The next logical step is combination of all of that with AR/VR glasses.
Yes those would include time, space and travel as VR worlds could bring you multiple places (just virtually).
Yes it would apply to more than just camera geeks since AR/VR is the next logical step in computer technology.

You just have to broaden your mind about what AR/VR would do in the future. Imagine these things are the size of regular eye glasses (eventually). A lot of people wear regular eye glasses all day long and have for decades. A lot of people wear sunglasses. Eventually such glasses will replace smartphones. Who wants a tiny little screen in their pocket when they can have a sky sized screen appear before them? Imagine all the possibilities of interacting with virtual objects as you walk around the world or even real object. You see a plant with berries on it as you walk through the woods. They light up red, yellow or green depending on if they are poisonous, or safe to eat or if you should be cautious.
There are so many things this kind of technology could do, it would be revolutionary. I also have no doubt this is where we are going, whether delivered by RED or someone else.

Every (insert Jim's creation) comes with a free Helium sensor upgrade! Eh? I'll show myself out.

Glad to see Jarred in here.

We'll make him talk by this weekend. :yesnod:

Start posting the out-of-focus product photos in 3..2...
:emote_popcorn:

A small, highres, RED action cam would be EPIC!

Can funds in the REDuser account be used to purchase the new item(s)?

"It has to do with space. And travel. And time. And electronics..."

Sounds like 88mph and 1.21 Gigawatts is all you need to know.

Maybe we will get that laser projector finally... travel size :tongue_smilie:

Is it spooky that they just showed the movie on TV when I read this... :tongue_smilie:

This is a new product category. Not an upgrade or replacement for your RED camera.

But will it be related to the Red infrastructure in any way? Meaning, it has to do with filmmaking or similar? Otherwise I wonder how it will be connected to Red and us here at Reduser?
