Hey redusers,

Don't mean to sound like a newb here, but can someone explain to me in the simplest terms the biggest differences between the Scarlet and Epic cameras? Mostly in terms of resolution and aspect ratios. I looked at the tech specs list for both cameras and noticed that for Scarlet, 2:1 and Anamorphic 2:1 weren't listed for the 4K, 3K, or 2K raw. Does this mean that the Scarlet can only shoot in 16:9 HD ratio?

In a nutshell, what makes the Epic and Red One cameras that much more expensive than the Scarlet?

I understand I run the risk of looking like a complete uninformed moron but I'm reaching out to you guys for the needed info! Thank you!

The Scarlet and Epic use the exact same sensor. The epic offers more frame rates and data rates and certain features like choices of various aspect ratios. The Scarlet is basically like epic's little sister nonetheless is a powerful motion picture camera.

Here's some quick faq's here: http://www.scarletuser.com/showpost.php?p=90187&postcount=4

Scarlet, RED MX, and Epic all use the same sensor. It's all the other stuff inside the cameras that's different.
