Hi, on location, we're shooting with the Epic MX fw5.1.48 and the touch 5" LCD. It's been a little while so I have some specific questions that I couldn't find answers to:

1. How do I prevent LCD magnification from showing up on the HD-SDI output (and only show up on the LCD)?

2. How do I move the magnified region around?

3. How do I easily toggle the LCD between normal (overlay) and full-screen (clean)? (update: just read about the "double tap". Is that the way? No mappable key shortcut, right?)

4. When using false color (video mode), I thought there was to bring up an index or 'cheat sheet' what each color means, but couldn't find how.

5. Still no way to mirror the LCD?? (To mount it upside-down)

Thanks!

PS I went fancy and saved some black shading calibration presets to the SSD... loading a preset took almost as long as running a full calibration! Over 10 minutes. WTF...

You can't. All the monitors will enter magnification mode together.

2. How do I move the magnified region around?

The magnification area can be moved before entering magnification by moving the AF window. If you don't use AF, that's OK, just put AF into "Confirm Mode" and you get the AF window. The magnified region will be centered around the AF Window (if it can be)

3. How do I easily toggle the LCD between normal (overlay) and full-screen (clean)? (update: just read about the "double tap". Is that the way? No mappable key shortcut, right?)

There is the key action "XXX: Cycle Mode", where XXX is the monitor in question. For example "LCD (Brain): Cycle Mode".

4. When using false color (video mode), I thought there was to bring up an index or 'cheat sheet' what each color means, but couldn't find how.

The only cheat sheet is in the Help page for the Tools dialog. Quickest way to get there is to tap on the histogram (this will bring up the Tools Dialog) and then tap on the word "Help" on the top action bar.

No, there is no way to both flip and mirror the displays.

There are two ways to apply a calibration. The "temporary" application is much quicker (but doesn't survive across boots).

Thanks! Will put it all to good use tomorrow.

how can i assign REDLOGFilm button on something.Shortest way is Show Gamma Dialog Windows it doesnt toggle.i want one button solution like false color (video check toggle)

Whenever we don't have an explicit toggle/cycle key action you can almost always just create two presets. In your case, create a preset with Gamma Space set to "REDlogFilm", and another preset with Gamma Space set to "REDgamma4/3/2". You can then assign each preset to a key. If you want to get fancy and have one button toggle between these two presets please read this post.

Thanks a lot! Can we set SDI Output REDlogFilm LCD Brain RG4 etc. combinations

how do I shoot in regular 4k mode but have an overlay with 2:35 crop marks?

- Set your format to the desired format (4K HD?)
- Goto: Menu > Settings > Display > Guides
- In the Frame Guide tab change the Mode from "Full" to "User" (or chose 2.4:1 if that's close enough)
- Change the user aspect ration to 2.35:1
- Optionally change any of the other settings (Scale, offset, appearance, etc).
