  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"Magic Motion"...

I can't wait to see a really shaky camera test with lots of different detail. Please! It would also let us (not) experience the rolling shutter issues now that EPIC gets virtually the same as a mechanical.

If there are no issues with such test I think I might have to resign the existence of all other cameras.

And also, when you guys said that RC50 (hope I am remembering correctly) was going to be your recommendation for 5k, will the second stream also be RC50? Can they even be set to different compression? Would we even want to consider doing that?

Graeme has developed some new and wonderful HDRx tools. A great "Default" option and some serious sliders. You can dial in how much highlight protection you want and need which also means you can dial in how much MM you need.

HDRx™™™ can be used for motion tracking ("x" frame) and also pulling keys. Simon Robinson was here for VFX night at RED and had a prototype of the HDRME (motion estimation) plugin. His comment was that motion estimation would work better with HDRx because of the extra information provided by the program.

We had Ian from LightIron grade the barn sequence... lots of information in the clip to give an assortment of options. Incredible grade in a short period of time.

Lots of good news.

Yeah, that's when I really saw the power of these HDRx clips. Pulling even these low res compressed clips into AE you get a sense what an incredible range of looks you can achieve.

This continues to get bigger - hard to believe. Looking forward to the grades. I really like the "straight" barn image a lot: wonderfully atmospheric. It manages to convey the barn's era without seeming too.... retro. I guess "honest" is the word I'm looking for. And that is surely a great point of departure.

I normally don't post much, but; Oh yeah!

Ps. I'm a senior software engineer myself, and I don't come even close to comprehending how you guys did that. :ack2: And I don't understand how my friend came up with the DSpeaker algorithm either! I guess I should just learn how to do YOUR fries "just right". :nonod:
