Red Giant is running a 40% off everything today sale so I was thinking of getting their denoiser, but who has used it and would give thoughts on it?

Particularly, how useful would this be in on new Red footage shot on MX, using the new color science? I notice that in Build 351 Red has a denoise parameter, but I cant see any real use of it.

My thought was to use something like this on really punishing footage, ISO4000 and 6400.

If you are snappy Shawn you could download the trial have a quick play and if you like it buy it.

I do have a combo set of three: Neat Video, The Foundry's Furnace Core De-noiser and Magic Bullet De-noiser.

Use them one after another, also each have a different algorithms, you must test it and tweak your result with a fine tuning...

But at the end it's pretty effective de-noising of R3D or any other digital video footage....

Which is the best, for Red footage, of those three?

Sanjin hello,
I saw your post, just amazing what you can get;), is a great Furnacecore denoiser.

I wanted to ask if you have problems with file from Furnacecore 4K proress hd 444, I can only file with 2K, I do not know if it's my computer or is a limitation.

It's difficult to say which is the best because each "kills" a certain type of noise.

Btw, for me to have just one denoiser tool is not enough because every noise has so many layers,

it's something similar situation as if you would cut many woods in the forest to get a meadow out of it

then you need many tools (and also machines) to make it really clean.

Hope this helps.

One more vote for neat video, which is almost disturbingly good at any price. I've only toyed around a bit with magic bullet denoise, but the version I used didn't even begin to compare with neat video. Admittedly, it's easy to over-do it with neat video or accidentally use the wrong settings, the interface unusually complex, and it's not the fastest to render (neither is magic bullet). But it's not hard to use, just more flexible than competing software and so it takes more work and more practice to get ideal results. But it's good enough that when it's not better than the competition it's due to user error, and it's not like it's difficult to get good results, it just takes trial and error when the footage is really chunky.

Another vote for Neat Video, but I will say I have not tried the others you mentioned.

Neat video works great. Shawn, if you have a 1080P file with some noise that you'd like tested out, send it my way. Best results can be obtained when you have a very good sample area in the shot, something that really showcases the noise you want to remove. A wall, or any other surface that doesn't have varying properties that will confuse it. But even in worse case scenarios, I've managed to get decent results. It is easy to overdo it. I have found that I am just looking to get it to the point where the noise is no longer objectionable or in the case of matching another shot that didn't have the noise, finding the threshold that lets those two shots co-exist without calling attention.
