  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MacBook Pro Retiina HDMI

Jarred commented a while ago. At that time, he said it was unlikely because of the power requirements which is inconvenient in the field.

Has Red made any statements on a Thunderbolt SSD reader? Is it ever likely to happen?

If true that would be a bummer. While bus power is ideal an AC powered reader is still very useful on many shoots where AC is easily sourced. Happy to fall back on USB 3 reader when its run and gun. Damm its hard palnning future equipment purchases with so little info coming out of Red.

The newer Thunderbolt interfaces are better at not sucking up too much power. Lots of Thunderbolt bus-powered devices are hitting the market now, so this doesn't apply anymore. I'd love to see the mini reader updated to have both TB and USB3 interfaces on it. Totally do-able. Buffalo and others are shipping bus-powered units with both USB3 and TB on them that drive 7200rpm 1TB 2.5" HDD's without breaking a sweat or getting hot.

Hey guys,

I know the talk above is about using the HDMI on the MBPR as a second screen, but is anyone using the HDMI to say a 42" LCD as a monitor for footage review?

I am looking at running Adobe Premiere and doing some editing on the Laptop and using the HDMI connected to my panny 42" LCD TV and using that as an output monitor. Can anyone conform if this works???

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Thanks. I couldn't find a confirmed answer if anyone has used it with the likes of adobe premiere as there viewing output monitor. Be nice for a client to see rough edits on the LCD TV I gave whilst I edit on the laptop.

:))

I have no problem whatsoever to use the HDMI out on a Samsung monitor for RCX as well as Premiere. Could be an issue with the Kuro, it doesn't have native full HD, right?
