Has anyone used the new MacBook Pro Retina's HDMI output? Specifically interested if R3Ds played in Redcine X will output the played images through the HDMI output? I would love to attach my Sony 17" monitor on location.

Major bummer as Display Port is the Thunderbolt port so if you have a Red Thunderbolt SSD reader (Dreaming I know) and a TB HDD they will all need two TB ports so as to Daisychain as the monitor needs to be on the end of this chain. Did ypu use a displayport to HDMI connector on your test into a broadcast monitor?

I assume he used the HDMI port on the right side of the machine.

Also in my extensive research there is no such thing as an HDMI-to-Displayport adapter, so I had to go with an HDMI-to-DVI to go into the EIZO.
The adapters out there are Displayport-to-HDMI and ARE NOT bi-directional.

correct.

Hmmm.... I'll have to verify this myself, but I'm like 99% sure it works just fine. Not sure why using the HDMI as a secondary display wouldn't work, even in RC-X.... It still outputs within the limitations of the GDI, so 8bit and all that.

It works great and I use it all the time. Every now and then it will glitch out and you get a screen covered in static but it's pretty nice to free up both TB ports.

Not working for me. Retina 2.7 HDMI port as second monitor.

Didn't work for me either when I last tried it.

Yes.

Is it not showing up as a second monitor or you can't get RCX to playback on it?

Second monitor works perfect via HDMI - seen and configurable via display preferences. RedCine X does not see it. No playback.

You have to first configure you display setup in Apple preference to use 2 monitors (deselect mirror), both monitors will resize to the lowest resolution. Then set the resolution on your second monitor to 1080. The config window should open in each display window. Then in RCX, under the pull down menu at the top view/send video on second monitor. Should work.

If your broadcast monitor does not have HDMI, but does have DVI-D or your using an older screen, then get a cheap HDMI to DVI-D plug or converter box to do HDMI-SDI.

Both my monitors (mac 27" display, Pioneer Kuro 151) are configured properly via display preference, no mirroring. I can move windows back and forth. RCX sends nothing to the KURO (second monitor ) when enabeling video on second monitor...

See what happens with only the Laptop display and the HDMI display plugged in.
