  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey All,

I have a Macbook Pro 2.2 GHZ with 4GIG Ram available for rent at $75/day with a minimum $500 commitment (1 week). This is in Los Angeles.

It has:
- Final Cut Studio 2
- Redcine
- RedAlert
- Crimsonworkflow

As do I for $100 a day :).

It's antique you see... Made nearly 6 months back.
 
But if you need it only for a week... Why buy it? And the system including the software costs $3700.

And believe it or not, I do rent it out as much as 7 to 10 days a month.
 
What happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say..."

I don't think that offering a Macbook rental is out of line on the RED forum. If the price is what you feel is unreasonable, move along... this thread will sink to the next page soon enough.

It's a tough crowd. Some think a stinky shark is taking advantage of a blood spill, which seems REDiculous. And they're all posting after a homecoming from the bar, maybe, but this is exactly what it is: certain tools for a certain price. If you don't need 'em, move on, hombre.

If you think it's too expensive, and you're still interested, PM the dude. Don't give me your ass for $20, because it ain't worth it! And I don't want to read OR smell it!

Yea, macbook pros are faster now, usw,(Deutschland!)... But if I blew a gasket and had nowhere else to go after promising a client I would give 'em the goods on Monday, and a posthouse'll eat $500 faster than you can drink their bottled water at the reception desk, well, maybe then you wouldn't mind dealing with this shark... Just for a week?.... ;>)
 
Hey, I just re-read the original post and what I think sunk it was the use of the word, "commitment". No RED blooded dude'll take that word lightly! :>)

Really, $75 for a day sounds okay, doesn't it?..... Cut your commercial and burn it, or save your EDL... MOOHAHAHAHAHA!
 
$75 a day is pretty standard fare for a laptop.

Usually this is part of the AC/Tech kit and I don't believe you can get your footage off of the drives or cards without a lappy or a device like it. Are the gripers just bringing theirs on set to download footage and not charging for it?

Thanks for all the feedback to most of you :).

This is pretty common. Remember, not all the people who use this site are red owners. They are all red users. So someone might actually need a laptop now and then.

And as I said, I do rent it out as often as a week to 10 days every month.

So if anyone's interested, please drop a line.
