I was playing with video cards this morning and noticing some things. I have a mish mosh of cards installed. Currently running a GTX 780, GTX 570 & Quadro 4000. The GTXs are MacVidCard modded. I've played with swapping both GTXs back and forth from Tower to chassis. No matter what I put where, Resolve and RC-X only see two cards. System report shows all three cards. I just installed the latest Nvidia Web driver which didn't seem to change anything from what Mavericks was doin on it's own. I'm pretty sure Resolve used to see all three cards.

Questions: Is there a point to having more than two GPU cards? Is there a problem with running different flavors of Nvidia cards? I think I'm gonna keep the GTX 780 in the tower (anything faster would require external power) and then put 1 or 2 more GTX 780's or Titans in the Chassis.

Advice? Should I keep it all GTX 780s? Should I only run 1 additional GPU or go for two to get the most out of the system? Will the software ever see more than two?

2010 2.66 12 Core running Mavericks, Cyclone 2707

Computers are starting to piss me off. Between upgrading old Macs, nMP, Hackintosh & PC there just seems to be no really solidly reliable monster system out there.

I read somewhere that Windows is the only platform that supports more than two cards for GPU Resolve purposes.

I would have to dig that up.

My experiences are multi Quadro 4000s in a CUBIX Expander and a mix of Quadro 4000s and ATI for GUI.

Christopher - funny I was on the phone with a Resolve tech yesterday and this came up. I have a Mac Pro Tower running a NVIDA Quadra 4000, I happen to mention to him I was going to upgrade to the GTX 680, he stated I would have to upgrade to the full version of Resolve in order to get multi-GPU support in Resolve 10. The only exception is the new Mac Pro "Trash Cans". But he made it clear that Mac OS does support multiple GPU's.

Resolve Lite does support two GPUs, with second GPU used as GUI and "use display GPU for compute" selected. When they mention multi GPU, they mean more than 2. Resolve makes no distinction between Mac pro tower and nMac. Otherwise, all users of nMac with Resolve Lite would be mighty pissed.

You'd have difficulties digging it up, because it's not true.

odd I read that somewhere but never had that issue.

most Ive had in one CUBIX under OS X is 2 so I cant vouch.

Im thinking more than two of course here which Ive never had the pleasure.

and yes I know Linux handles more just never bothered to mention.
