I know this question probably has been asked before. I read some of the posts here. They seem to be on high end config side. My purpose for this Mac workstation is for editing short indie films. My final product will be 1080p blue-ray. I know I'll be getting a Mac 8 core system, with 2 23" cinema display(or one 23" and one 30"). Can someone help me out with the rest of the stuff I need to get started? Also, a simple Pro Res 1080p workflow would be nice too. Thanks a lot.

A large storage volume. Preferably an external raid capable of Raid 5 for protection.

some form of data backup. This could be another raid with all important data on or a LTO3 or 4 tape drive

Memory.. at least 1gig per core so 8gig min

8800GT gfx card is working for us fine currently

If your grading also you may want to look at a aja kona or blackmagic card with SDI out going to a blackmagic HDlink to your 24" rather than straight DVI.

The list can grow...

Dont know anything about bluray burners sorry..

Software....?
finalcutstudio
CS3

etc...

I'll be using Color to do some grading. I've bought FCP studio and CS3 suite. Which Kona card do you recommend? Thanks.
