They were posted here somewhere, but I don't know where to find them. Can people post whats apps they are using for basic R3D field copying and file validation?

I looked into that, and its rather cheap, but I'm considering just making my own, but I first want to see any barebones Mac (non Red specific) copy and verify apps.

R3D Data Manager does everything I need for backing up on set. And it's very cheap.

I think that the Redhax wiki had instructions for how to checksum files using Terminal, which is the most basic free procedure. But it seems to be not working at the moment. I don't know if that's a temporary problem or if the site has been removed....

Mac comes with default sum command for the Teriminal. One can also install the md5sum command -- easier to do with fink or Mac (darwin) ports.

I found md5deep could become a nice tool to generate, store, and compare md5 in a workflow, especially if you build some simple automation scripts around it. I haven't come around to do that yet.

There are many rsync derived packages around... aasync, psync, arrsync, rsyncx, but i don't think there's anything quite like R3D Data Manager.

It's a pity there isn't a version that isn't red specific. I think it would have much wider potential than redusers.

I like rsyncX and use it a lot. It is based upon the rsync command that comes by default with Mac. However, rsyncX installs a slightly modified version of rysnc that has supposedly better support for HFS (Mac file system), but I tend to think, the newer version of rsync that comes with Mac OS X also have some form of that support.

The rsync installed by rsyncX shows this message when I run it by hand:

/usr/local/bin/rsync --version
rsync version 2.6.0 protocol version 27
Copyright (C) 1996-2004 by Andrew Tridgell and others
HFS+ filesystem support for OSX (C)2004 Kevin A. Boyd

Where as the default one that is put in there by Mac OS X does not say that (doesn't necessarily mean that the support is not there):

/usr/bin/rsync --version
rsync version 2.6.9 protocol version 29
Copyright (C) 1996-2006 by Andrew Tridgell, Wayne Davison, and others.

Hi All,

We order to achieve the easy and reliable file copy in the Mac, we have developed a RapidCopy.
Please try using all means.

RapidCopy is portable version of FastCopy that runs on Mac OS X.
FastCopy is the most famous checksum/verify copy software.

RapidCopy is faster than rsync.
Addtionaly, RapidCopy supports xxhash algorithm.

It was released in the Mac AppStore.

RapidCopy AppStore URL:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rapidcopy/id975974524

RapidCopy detailed manual URL:

I am the author of RapidCopy.
We need a feedback from overseas. Please let opinion.

Davinci Resolve actually has a checksum function during ingest

I've used a great little python script in terminal before. Not something i have or own to give out, but if you know someone who can code a quick python script for you, you're best off running everything via the terminal. Super fast!

The most advanced system in my opinion is Silverstack
http://pomfort.com/silverstack/

and the easiest and cheapest way to check your files is to just open your terminal window, write md5 in the command line followed by a space and than drag your file to check into the terminal window and hit enter. Do that again with your original file and compare the numbers.

Kengo,

This is advertizing and violates the rules.
