Hi all. . .

. . . we are getting ready to shoot our second feature film, "Terminal," starting this coming August. We will be using an M-Xed RED (#791) as the main, A-camera for the shoot, but we also anticipate a number of scenes where will be wanting to use two cameras.

We are interested in exploring a long-term rental of an M-Xed camera for four months this fall.

A very nice fellow REDUser and I have worked out a deal for a rental, but he has several of his own projects bubbling beneath the surface and it would seem that there is a good possibility that his camera will not be available for our project. Accordingly, we are seeking out another camera just to be sure. If we are able to strike a mutually agreeable deal with you, that will be it. We'll go with yours.

We would prefer a camera with a Birger mount, but will also entertain a camera with a Nikon mount. We will not be using PL lenses for this shoot.

We would be looking for a relatively minimal set-up. We are, of course, fully-insured, and will treat your camera as our own (that is, we'll baby it!). As noted in the title to this thread, we will be needing the camera from the end of August to the end of December.

Please PM potential rental offers and we'll take it from there. If I do not respond to your PM, it is because I consider the offer too expensive to make it worth our whiles to discuss further.

Thanks very much.

Stephen

Stephen,

if you are based in EU you could get my MXed R1 that comes next week (already in Paris Fedex depot) and is available for that time period.

Mail me for details.

Seems that my offer of around $65/day is too much...:confused5:

Huh?

a 4 week rental can/should be pro-rated, especially if it's subsequent weeks. A 2 or 3 day week is not unheard of. So, given that parameter, a deal like this for camera body and basic accessories could run anywhere from $1000 to $3000 per week depending on what the market is, condition of equipment, support, etc. Throw in a REDuser deal, and I suppose those numbers could be lower, but $65/day would equate to a deal you might make if you were helping out a friend and your camera isn't too busy. In other words, it's not a going rate.

can i sub-rent your camera out then @ $65 a day? i think i can find a taker for that deal. I'd NEVER do it, but guess there are a few folks that will take that deal??

If you pay me up front for 4 months from September 2010 to December 2010 and have full insureance...
I will be in post during that time, so my RED will be mothballed. Might as well be put to good use.
