I've been shooting in Build 16 and recently upgraded all my Mac software, including Final Cut and Quicktime to the latest versions.

The problem: For some reason the 'P' proxies play fine in Final Cut Pro, but the 'M' proxies want me to render them. I'm editing on a Macbook Pro w/ 2Gig RAM & 2x1TB eSATA External drives (Raid 0)

Are you re-setting your sequence settings to match the M proxies? They are not the same size or resolution as the P proxies.

Yes - I had Final Cut do it's automatic adjustment of the sequence to match the proxies (to no avail) then I went through manually - everything matches the proxy settings.

Hi,

we have the same problem, all software upgraded,
film shot with build 16, started to edit with FCP 6.0.1 everything ok,
but as soon as we got new mac pro with new updates to 6.0.4,
the M proxies are not RealTime and need to be rendered...
The problem is the upgrade....

Anyone knows something more about this issue and how to solve it?

Thanks a lot.

Marek

Ah, cool. I didn't mean to offer an overly simplistic solution but I do frequently run into folks who can't quite grasp the idea of setting up their sequences properly.

Interesting to note that the recent FCP update has broken M proxy realtime editing... I'll have to keep that in mind.

our company is full of Peters so Im just curious...
what is the Peter principal Kenn?

Anyone know how to contact someone from RED who knows more about the workflow and ask them for a reply to this thread?
I am sure they could tell us more and it could help more people...
