I know it has been discussed here earlier, but what we really need in the post-workflow is the support for LUTs. Imagine that you create a LUT in the program of your choice, export in a standard format, load it into the camera and use it instead of RedSpace for example, as on set monitoring. Also, it would be possible to use the same LUTs in REDCine for dailies, and to load them in post-applications such as Nuke and After Effects for reference. Any chance of this happening in the near future?

Simon,

Welcome to REDuser.

The easiest way to do this is to use RED ALERT. RED does not support third party LUT import but you can match a look in RED ALERT.

The bad news is that it is not a simple import into the camera. You have to manually transpose the numbers into the camera and save that as a LOOK file which the camera CAN load and use.

Many people have asked fo rthis feature. It is possible but it is a manual process involving setting looks in RED ALERT and then transposing numbers of certain values from there at the camera level. It doesn't take to long to do one look, but I would not want to do ten or twenty.

I've got about 8 basic looks I go with.

Hi David,

thank you for your reply. Although I'm not new here, I just found out that my old user name didn't work anymore. (I hadn't logged in for a while and had missed the real names thing.)

It's possible to create looks in Red Alert and manually dial them into the camera. However, this is not what I need. I need the camera to be able to use the same LUTs that I use in my compositing application. This feature would be fantastic, not just for the colourist and the compositor, but of course also for the DP.

It's a very well documented request. I am just letting you know how to do it with RED and currently this is the only way to do what you are asking. It might not be what you want to hear but many people have been asking for this for quite some time.
