LTO-3A verify function?

I'm using R3D Data Manager to copy footage to multiple drives. After the checksum is completed, a drag & drop puts the files on LTO-3A. However, I'd like to have a similar sort of security as R3D Data Manager offers with my tape backups.

Anyone know how to get a verify function out of the LTO-3A? Something that checks to make sure the destination matches the source?

You would need to code. The LTO3A uses standard FTP protocols to communicate. The commands are listed in the manual.

Isn't R3D Data Manager supposed to work with LTO drives ?

From their website http://www.r3ddata.com/ :

Its designed to give you a perfect copy end-to-end both from RED Media and standard hard drives or LTO tape.

I haven't tried, but what happens if you put your LTO drive as the "destination directory" ?
