recently got myself Scarlet and i already spend a lot of money on it.Looking for compact recorders like Zoom H4n and Tascam DR100 MKII
can spend max 400$ and probably gonna get Tascam.Tested Zoom for few days and battery drains damn fast.
What do you guys recommend? Just gonna use this on small projects and cant afford another extra mic.only onboard mics with recorders
im wondering if i get Tascam and mount it on Red can i get output from recorder and plug in Red?

The Tascam is fine but use Lithium AA cells in it. It has internal Lithium also but only rechargable via the power supply.

Its a great recorder.

I use a lavalier mic directly in the input, and/or a wireless feed from the sound guys for scratch and count on a sound engineer for better sound. You know that good sound is more critical than a good image in fiction, right?
otherwise a H4n can do the trick. Maybe find a way to power it from the camera battery via Ptap or something, te internal battery is super short.
