Hi All,

I've spoken to a couple of fellow Red One Owners recently who are under the impression that the trade in value of our Red Ones will be lowered if there is anything wrong with our cameras.

I've not read anything about this on the forum and a little search hasn't brought anything up... Is there anyone at Red who can confirm or deny this?

My camera has a couple of very very small scratches and one of the xlr release buttons is slightly bent, still works fine, just looks a bit off. Would I be looking at a $20 reduction or would I be looking at $hundreds for a replacement minixlr?

It be good to know what the deal is with this, please guys!

Wow...
This is an excellent question. The idea or concept of "normal wear and tear" has not really been dealt with on this subject.

I cannot see RED checking EVERY SINGLE TRADE IN, givng it an evaluation, and then letting the customer know how much they are really going to get back.

Then there are some things you can do to your camera that will VOID the trade in.. I suppose all the cameras would have to be checked for those things as well.

You brinig up very important point.

Looking forward to the answer.

Jay

It is an interesting question. Scratches from regular use should not be a problem. Camera gear will eventually show signs of wear and tear, especially if in a rental environment.

So far, all we know is that to trade in your RED One, you can't have done anything to it that would void the warranty. And it was stated at one point somewhere that it needed to be in proper working order.
