  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Looks Like Redrock Upped its game

I am in the market for an affordable follow focus for my Red/19mm/Cine Lenses. Any other suggestions besides this one? Arri too pricey for my tastes.

Zacuto's FF is pretty good for the money. I like it better than the RedRock, but it is more expensive. If you want to go better than that, there's Chroszeil. You can also play the ebay game.

I wonder if this new FF will work with the Red 18-85 zoom.

Doubt it. Given its girth, the clearances below that lens are VERY tight. With an FF4, you have to slide the FF unit in as you mount the lens, otherwise it won't clear. You end up with about 1/4" clearance, and that's a pretty low profile FF.

This unit looks pretty bulky.

The Cinevate Durus FF looks like a good choice, but I believe you'd need a 19mm adapter for it. I'd check with them to see if they have a RED version in the works.

That Live Mount for Canon would be great for lenses like the Tokina wide zoom.

They also made their FF a bit more Red friendly with the quick release for thicker rails. And for the 18-85 I am sure there is a way to get it to work? No? I am assuming, but there is always a way... perhaps with something from Zacuto?

I hate that they say their new adapter will walk on water at 1/2 stop loss and there is no footage... frustrating. Would be interesting to see if it really rocked as hard as they sell it.

I've always liked RR... they really pushed the indie scene forward when they jumped into the game. Really hope their new stuff performs like they claim. Congrats to them on the new releases.

i agree with jeff.

Zacutos FF is made by petroff and is WAY better than RR and rivals Chroziel.

ive tried them all, and love the zacuto (petroff) for the $

smooth sturdy and no wiggle

that follow focus has a severe design error, being that bulky.

get a ff4, it's not as expensive as it seems :)

you won't ever have to buy a ff again and it resells for almost the same.

I got to see a prototype of the new RR FF and it is way nicer than the old one. The pictures on their website need to be updated to reflect the new design.
