  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I liked the whole piece a lot.
but cutting scenes is a very personal and subjective matter.
If i was doing the edit , i'd try not to be so linear ( i know, you're using NLE:)
she talks camera on her, he talks camera on him, sometimes to see the reaction, or even cutaway, is/should be more important, not all the time of course.
but again, it's all very very subjective and after adding color, sound, titles and score it'll be great piece, in fact alredy is.
good team work!
congratulations!

Thanks Paramon, I think you right about the reaction shots, What i have been trying to do with this edit is just get the pace right. Sometimes i find closing my eyes and just listening really helps. Then I go through and look at the visuals and like you said a line could be so much more powerful depending on the reaction.

Thanks again

Mark

Nice job Mark I love the image and sound quality so far. What lenses did you use?

Hi Donnie, we used the zeiss 35mm f2, 18mm 2.8, canon 50mm 1.2 and the 70-200mm 2.8. My sound man will be very pleased you said that. Still not done a sound mix yet, litrally just put a wild track down and then laid the audio on top.

Wonderfull short! I agree that some reaction shots or cutaways would really fit in. I saw the stills that you posted a couple of days ago, and I loved the lighting.
The thing that I would do, is at the end, maybe let them both count to 2, and then right before they say 3, cut to black. That might give the short a double ending where the viewer can decide if they jumped or not. Even though you don't actually see them jumping. That might be what you intended, or maybe not. Just sharing my opinion :) All in all, well done!

I liked it! I enjoyed the way you ended it as well; nice work!!

While some re-shuffling of reaction shots would be nice, editing is truly subjective, and I happen to enjoy it as is.
