Hi i am willing to spend about $8-$10,000 dollars on a whole package.

I am fairly new to the RED camera so i dont know exactly what i need but i know the basics such as LCD, Battery, Charger, Cables, etc.

Send me a pm detailing your custom package. I also prefer to have a rod system included.

Sorry if i am missing any required info. If i am feel free to let me know. Thanks!

Take a look in this section:
http://www.reduser.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?69-RED-stuff-for-sale

There are a lot of good packages currently for sale there.

some things I would look for:
-A good mount adapter is a big positive (if you will be using still lenses)- the Birger Canon or Optitek Nikon are great options... also pretty hard to come by these by themselves second hand. (I've got an Optitek, its awesome)
-The battle tested 'BT' red ones are great as they have all been fully refurbished and check out by Red
-I'd be weary of one with a ton of hours or a previous rental-- even though the Red One is a solid cam, its better in the long run, I'd say, to get one with the least amount of miles...
-Recording media- depending on which style Red One you get, make sure you have plenty of recording media: SSD/Red Drives/Compact Flash Cards...
-A good solid case to lug everything around in
-After that, I'd start looking at mounting options... the more, the better!

Hope that helps, I looked around for mine for about two months before I pulled the trigger... do some price shopping, look at what it comes with and price out all the individual items based upon the going rates-- the more you know about the items, and what they cost, the better equipped you are to see what constitutes a good deal... but the Red Boards are the best spot to find one I'd say, AVOID EBAY-- lot of scammer horror stories involving big-ticket items like the Red One...

Try to buy one locally that you can power up and go through in person unless you know the camera has checked out elsewhere. For me, it was important just in case buttons don't work, monitor problems or anything else. Of course there are some great people on the forum who are honest and will let you know upfront if there is anything wrong or needs attention. Just be careful if you buy sight unseen and get some references if doing so.

Wow i wasnt expecting as much help as that lol Thank you! Ive been looking at RED stuff for a while now but there are so many modules that its hard to grasp a price point for a full package (unless i pull out the calculator)

Also what does the #xxxx mean when people put it next to their RED camera in posts? Is it like the firmware? That leads me to my next question...seeing as how RED is the more expensive color (lol) are the firmware updates costly? And my last question, what is the process of upgrading a RED One M sensor into an MX? (sorry completely new to RED)

The #xxxx is the serial number associated with the camera. Firmware upgrades have been free of charge. To upgrade to MX just send camera in to RED and pay the money for upgrade. Pretty simple.
