I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on a carl zeiss jena mc flektogon 20mm f2.8 from eBay, just looking for any advice from people who have had any hands-on experience with it. I've been looking for wide-angle small And light lens for run and gun. I like the fact that I can mount this lens to M-mount via a m42 screw mount to leica m adapter.

I found this review to be quite useful:

Don't use it wide-open (in fact I wouldn't use the SLR zoom wide-open either). But at f/8 it looks pretty good indeed.

The reviewer does not discuss distortion, but I suspect it will be way over 0.5% barrel. You might not be able to tell with static shots of uneven subjects, but when it's obvious, you'll regret it. :-) Of course for playing around, or for low budget stuff, it doesn't matter too much.

I'd rather get the Olympus Zuiko 21mm. It exist in f2 and f3.5 (a matter of price, both are good). It can be Leitaxed to Nikon and there is a Nikon mount for RED, as you probably know.

These are tiny compared to other wides and i tested them against the Flektogon – sold the Flek. The only photographic vintage lens in 21mm I know to be better is the Zeiss Contax C/Y, but that's really costly.

Hi guys,

I see you guys know a lot about russian lenses.
I just purchased the following lenses:

-Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm F2.8 M42 wide angle zebra lens Praktica
-Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 20mm F2.8 MC Vintage M42 Zebra Electric

Can you recommend me which is the best converter/adapter that will fit these lenses?
thank you all!
