Hello all. I'm doing a shoot coming up where we have two Epic Dragons and a Scarlet and we're going to be shooting with Nikon AiS lenses. The problem is that we only have two PL mounts and one Nikon mount. Would anyone in LA have a Nikon mount we could rent? The shoot is fully-insured and all of that good stuff.

Not all of the Ai-S lenses will fit the DSMC Nikon mount properly FYI - third party non-electronic mounts may be different. I know we keep some Long Valley mounts for that reason.

Wow, really? I didn't know that. I have a Nikon and PL mount, my Nikon is from RED, my PL is third party. The Nikon I have works well with a variety of 'dumb' AiS lenses I have; 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 28-70mm, and some others. But I'm concerned if there is a random lens that won't mount. I've never heard this. When you say it won't mount properly, is that because of the pin on it? Does it just not click in? Or, does it click in but the readings don't show up...?

Yes, it's due to the pin. (circled in red) Some of those pins go a little too far back an will rub on the inside of the lens mount. Didn't realize this when I first purchased my Nikon mount and that pin ended up chipping the interior finish on the mount. I wish I could direct you to which ones specifically, but it's been so long since I first purchased it that I can't remember anymore. However, on the plus side, those pins are very easy and straightforward to remove from the camera, shave down, and re-install.

I have a Nikon mount that you can rent (as long as there isn't an issue with your lenses haha).
