I'm not going to rain on BandPro or any other company. There are many aspects to these dealings and much would be innapropriate to air on a web forum. Abel sells Arri lenses as a contracted dealer in the US. If you ever have a problem with a lens purchased through us rest assured that we will be able to directly support the product with Arri here in the US. BandPro certainly stands by their product as well, and there's nothing like having a direct relationship with a company that will be there for you. Not that Arri wouldn't be, but it's nice to have a service provider in your court.

I know about te lenses BandPro has coming (unless Mike really has a surprise in store) and they could prove quite interesting. Just be sure to stop by the Abel booth as well for some interesting new glass.

Any of you kids reconsidering not going to NAB? ;-)

You can always call Arri direct and get a quote. You don't have to go through a dealer.

if you can get them to give you a quote...it aint easy.

I have received multiple quotes from Arri US in dollars, Arri UK in pounds and euros. I never waited longer than 24hrs for these quotes. Sounds like you need to get to the right people.
That said I would only consider buying direct if there was a significant savings in doing so. The benefit as Mitch and Michael say in having a reseller hustle on your behalf is huge. Sometimes they even have loaners to give you while your stuff is being repaired Days lost in rental while something is being repaired always costs you more in the end than any savings made on purchase.

Nice fantasy Matt While I cannot say yet, I can assure you that 5 lenses will be more than $20K and as far as I know there are no RED primes in a set of 5 for $20K either.
