  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Looking for cheap lens manufacturers of good lenses, to make a special work lens?

I was posting elsewhere something like this:

I am interested in a compact 4/3rds super fast multi focal, or lens set, with pleasent bokeh for most other things. Does anybody know of any?

It would be ideal if there was such a auto/manual multi focal for 4/3rds cameras that had attachable ENG like controls. Maybe I should approach one of the specialist lens makers, as a product. Does any body know of cheap lens makers that can make descent lenses?

So, I was wondering if anybody knows of such lens, or cheap manufacturers of good quality I could suggest it too (sorry I could not fut everything into the title). I should include from s16 and s35 as well, sine s16 will stretch to 4/3rds, or I might end up with a s35.

The idea is a short general work lens that is pleasing for most situations on video/stills. It doesn't have to be as good as a $5000, to 500, 000 lens.

Thanks

Wayne.

There are few M4/3 power zooms already.
We use them with our new M4/3 locking smart adapter

Have you got any links Jacek, it doesn't give me much to go on. Google returned just one result, not even 10 million stures selling locks :)

14-42 Pana
14-42 Oly
12-50 Oly
45-175 Pana of the top of my head

The "M4/3 locking smart adapter"?

I had a look at 45-175 Panansomic, that has a very minimal video work zoom range, but is far too slow. A good top of zoom range of 12x or 20x tends to be suitable for video work. For instance, I had to film a wedding from an upper balcony of a big church once. I think 12x wasn't even covering it well and I had to peak into digital zoom. Anything below 5x is just not that good. I've got a 3x here. The other thing is sports filming. So, maybe even a set of zooms, with maybe upto 5x, 12x andbso forth (but that is an Arm and a leg buying them all compared to the price of the camera).

I know in the small specialist lens maker market, they came up with some ultra compact quality stuff with nice bokeh. But if I suggest to Panasonic to make a lens like this they will want to charge up to 5-10x more to give no real advantage to buy compared to an expensive camera. So a cheap volume lens maker with quality is the one to approach.

If only 3+ sensor cameras were available, or liquid lens, I would go look at them instead. Atnthenmoment therenus only light, and that camera is overkill and duesnt really do much, if at all, video (emailed them a few years ago).

The saying "pissing wonders and shitting miracles " comes to mind.
I don't see any of that happening so we use what's available on the market today and they work great.

It's coming, but that is why I'm looking to the market instead for now. :)

Hi Jareck. Noticed that you are actually a commercial company, and are talking about a product you have but not listed on your website, not one you merely own. People put all sort of things in their avatar pictures here, 99% irrelevant maybe, so the optitek picture just looks like a white blob on this mobile screen, so I didnt know you were an optitek person. Sorry.

I still don't know if your adaptor is suitable for that sort of run'n'gun filming style.

I'll need to review everything, but I have to make room for anybody with more lens choices and cheaper volume lens makers (if they still exist).
