Looking to buy a fisheye lens for my RED with canon eos mount.
Vivitar 7 Samyang, Samyang cine version, 8 Pelang 8? Who has actually used one with good coverage and good results...recommendations of actual users well appreciated!!!
Thanks
TJ

Hey TJ,

We use the Sunex Superfisheye 185° 5.6mm on the Nikon mount. It produces close to a full circular image, but not quite and can get a bit soft around the edge. The Sigma 4mm will give you a full circle, but it will not use the full vertical portion of the sensor.

If you are looking for a fisheye, the Peleng is hard to beat. This was taken on a pl mount t2i.

The Peleng is/was a great option to have for the money and relatively easy to get with PL mount adapted. However, there are better options on the market now. The Sigma 4.5mm is awesome and designed to fit a full circle FOV within an APS-C (S35) imager space. So you see the circular fisheye image with black around it. If you want full sensor coverage and not the visible circle, then take a look at the Vivitar 7mm fisheye. It comes in an EOS mount and B&H has them in stock for about $360. Sigma has several other options like an 8, 10 and 15mm. Tamron has a 10-17mm fisheye zoom which can be interesting.

Peleng Sigma are excellent, but another great choice is General Akbars oculars...with a P/L mount. however, they are extremely rare as he lived a long time ago in a galaxy far. far away

Rumor has it that George Lucas turned them into a variation on beer goggles. He wore them throughout the entire script-writing process for Episodes 1 thru 3.

Thanks Jeff, I ordered up the Tokina 7mm....That finishes my overlappine EOS zooms everything else opens to 2.8 with full control on the Birger on my RED1 now covered fm
7mm then 11mm to 200mm in 4 overlapping eos L zooms... best cheap glass I ever used!

I did consider the general glass but I believe the eyebrow pulls it down out of round.
