  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Lomo lenses?

Had Lomo Sphericals for a while..
heres my take..

They can have a pretty unique cinematic look, but I would never get them again.. they are just so sloppy and feel like they will fall apart in your hand

I had a SAAB 900 that was a total piece of shit. But that doesn't mean all SAAB 900s suck. Just saying.

heh heh the most awesome recall for those 900s was the reverse throttle... when you took your foot off the gas pedal it would just keep going faster and faster.

I have a little rocket car right now that does the same thing but they sell it as a feature to keep momentum between shifts. All SAAB needed to do was re-market that whole thing and they coulda charged more for it :)

And as far as Anamorphic Illuminas, if they are what I think they are, what I heard vicious rumors about, It's going to be glorious.

Yeah, I don't know of anyone clamoring for 1.3x anamorphics. I would be 100% purchase on a 2x. !.3 is a really hard sell.

I guess I'll have to wait for NAB, but after my initial disappointment with 1.33 squeeze, I have given it much thought. Assuming that the taking lens is set at infinity focus and focus is set on the anamorphic front (which it would seem to suggest from the photos), and the adapter works on the 35,50,85, and 135, and the price, and if as with the rest of the set you can get an uncoated front element, then this could be really cool. I really want to see footage ;-)

Illumina 1.33x Anamorphic Adt.

Illumina 1.33x Anamorphic Adt.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Nick. A great deal of deliberation went into the decision to make Luma Tech's first converter a 1.33x ratio. In fact, a 2x unit was designed first. Its mass, complexity and expense seemed to point to the practicality of a 1.33x version. Due to the large number of digital cinema cameras in use with 2:1 or 16x9 sensors, compared to the relatively smaller production (to date) of 4x3 sensor cameras, and out of a desire to preserve high maximum aperture and offer reasonable size, Luma Tech went that direction.

We hope end-users are pleased with the photographic possibilities of blending the new device with uncoated front elements and other creative manipulations not yet concocted. With a modular system, the choices are many.
