Hi, do these lenses cover 3.2k on Alexa?

OKS3-22-1

OKS5-18-1

Thanks.

they are super35 lenses made for 35mm film cameras

That doesn't answer my question.

Are they meant to cover 4 perf super35 or just 3 perf?

If 4 perf, that's a 31mm image circle.

With 3.2k Arri Open gate you have a 33.5mm image circle. Some super35 lenses cover, others don't. I believe this was designed by Arri with the idea that most would... but it's case by base...

Which is why I'm asking.

where are you getting the lenses from? Same place as the camera?

Sorry if my last reply was rude. Frustrating day.

I just bought one. I have a set of other Lomos, which do cover, but they are longer focal lengths.

I looked at some tests on Vimeo and it looks like the 22mm vignettes slightly at 3.2k but not too bad. On Vimeo it's marked t2.1 I think mine is t2.3. Anyway, I can live with it if it's similar to what I see on Vimeo.

congrats on the purchase

not sure what version those are... saw some cheap with the OST-19 mount

Thanks, I bought one with the OCT19 mount. Most of mine are OCT18 mount but I hear they are the same optically and I have PL adapters for both.

Technically I wouldn't say it covers. But it's usable. Too bad the 18mm seems to have pretty bad vignetting. The Cooke 18mm and Schneider 18mm I think cover pretty well. (But the 28mm Schneider does not and 18mm to 35mm is quite a gap.)

the vignetting in that video is reported by having a bad adapter?

at first I thought if wasn't going to be sharp and maybe the lenses would be flare badly, but they do have great skin tones and nice character... probably not going to be contrasty, it has that low con feel, maybe throw a Poli or UV filter in front of it and see how it looks

Regarding open gate and vignetting in general with older lenses - we kinda have to consider your delivery format for whatever it is you’re filming right ?

If it’s a 16:9 or 2.40:1 or 1.85:1 extraction, I’m willing to bet you’re not going to have much problem with vignette from those lenses. Even if you do, can you set some reference frame guides or ask someone doing post to punch in 3-4% ? I doubt you will have an insane major porthole effect.

Surprise twist : literally every lens has a significant amount of illumination fall off (not a hard chop but gradual decrease in full illumination), but we tend not to notice it too much because of how humans see

Alex, I think that might be the older 22mm f2.8? Not sure.

Dan, I have found even Ultra Primes get a bit wonky in the corners at 3.2k, yeah. Honestly the level of vignetting with the 22mm at 3.2K is acceptable to me. It's bad, would probably result in a QC rejection, but I have low standards lol. The Lomos are nice, I was expecting a mess but the image is pretty nice and the apertures are almost perfectly round. But it is a "hard chop" as you would say.

The 18mm I think is a broken PL mount adapter, but elsewhere I've seen it vignettes more than the 22mm, and at a level I would find unacceptable, which is too bad as the 18mm Cooke Panchro is a stop faster and covers 3.2k.

It's a rehoused set, with native PL-Mount, someone told - by G.L. Optics, for a local rental house.
The test wasn't shot by me, but by Vova Ivanov, who's also a local DP. I didn't have a chance to shoot anything yet with OKC.

is that what Dan means by 'illumination'? -- the corners are soft? I thought he meant the coating someone was depreciated?

in vignetting are you saying the edges are soft?

The black hole is vignetting... I think anything else, you are just seeing 'too much' of the lens

I am interested in these lenses, they have a cool look... but, there're so many new lenses on the market now
