Looking for one of these preferably in PL mount, I also have a Cooke 20-100mm that can be offered for trade.

Thanks.

Lomo Foton 37-140 is fantastic.

If you find the diopters for close focus is way better. There are a couple in ebay.

Thanks, I have seen those. Mostly way over priced unfortunately.

It's a great lens, but expect to do a major tune up. I've owned 3 and they all had various levels of serious fucked upedness. A good foton zoom is what makes or breaks the lens. The anamorphic fronts are good.

Overhauling a lens is not like restoring a car. It is much simpler and if done correctly it will improve upon the new factory performance- mechanically and optically. We do that every day with anamorphics.... All lenses need maintenance and refreshing periodically- nothing to be afraid of....

Absolutely. I'm just saying unless you get one serviced by someone like you, it is not going to be up to speed. I think mostly because they have been messed with by people who don't know what they are doing. I had the pleasure of getting a new old stock lomo foton. Other than factory tests I doubt it was ever mounted on anything. Low and behold I put it up and every focus mark was dead on, the back focus was dead on, and it was sharper than any foton I had seen. So they left the factory doing what they were supposed to, just in the intervening years...... ;-)

Thanks for the tips, I have actually owned one of these in the past so I won't be surprised if I find one and it needs some service.

Not sure about the factory service. I think they work to different standards than we do here. I looked at a set of square fronts for a customer when I was back in Poland in September. The seller said they were just serviced in the factory and converted to PL mounts. They did look fresh but the controls were really heavy. He said they told him that's the way it had to be. Not so. We were able to loosen up the lenses we serviced.
Also some minor issues on the factory fresh lenses like raw aluminum (not anodized ?) conversion parts, etc. We just don't do it that way here. The lenses have to look and feel properly. I think it's just different service "culture"....

Ended up finding one, any tips and adjusting the lenses would be appreciated. Thanks.

You or anyone else who has used one before. Thanks.
