For sale is an extremely rare vintage high speed anamorphic lens. It's a rare Round Front anamorphic from the CKBK factory, where they built some of the best lenses to come out of Russia. For this lens they used one of their 50mm f1.2 primes as the base spherical lens. These Russian high-speed primes are excellent glass, and it's an awesome formula for an anamorphic lens. Performance is outstanding on this lens. You can actually shoot it at T1.5. Stopping down to T2 adds contrast and sharpness, and at T2.8 it's at peak performance on center and has nice fall off on the edges. This lens has some of the best bokeh I have seen in an anamorphic. It's very smooth and creamy, and not busy at all. Pinpoint light sources are rendered as perfect ovals. Flares are more subtle than standard speed Round Fronts. Also, you can point this lens at windows and large light sources and not get any crazy ghosts and intense veiling that completely overwhelm your image.
It's recently been serviced and I had a new, wider focus gear installed, which makes follow focus use much easier. Their is no haze or fungus in the optics. No chips or scratches. There are only some very light cleaning marks which are almost impossible to avoid with any 1980's Russian cinema lenses, but they do not effect image quality. It's a very clean lens. The paint is worn off and the metal underneath has a classic Russian patina. Engravings are still clear and white though. Mechanics are working smoothly.
Russian high speed front anamorphic lenses are extremely rare. I have only seen a few of these in my life. I was trying to put together a set of these, but I decided to invest in other gear. I wish I could keep it.
It's a very rare lens in great condition and it's ready to shoot.
