PRICE REDUCTION

Hi everyone,

I’m selling my Lomo 50mm Round Front anamorphic lens. It has accompanied me through many projects and is in perfect mechanical and optical condition.
You can see some stills below.

LOMO 50mm Round Front Anamorphic f/2.5 Lens
w/ Arri PL Mount
Price: 8,675.00 USD (OBO)
+ shipping (to anywhere in the world) + Paypal fees.
I only accept payments through Paypal. Lens is located in the US / CA,LA
SPECS:
Aparture: T2.5 to T16
Close Focus: 0.91m /3'
Length: 165mm/6.5"
Weight: 1.4kg/3.1 lbs

Lens comes with:
-original front cap
-RED rear cap
-fixed Arri .08 standard focus gear

As I said the lens is in perfect condition the only thing I would recommend is to re-shim the mount to get the most out of the lens in terms of sharpness.

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

Very Best,
Eric

Hi Jorge,
The lens is located in NY.
Contact me via PM if you want to check it out in person.
Best,
Eric

There seems to be some image shifting/leaning from bottom left to top right. Has the lens been serviced recently?

The 50mm lomo tends to do this but all it is, is the rear and front element twisted ever so slightly out-of-line (from the torque of taking a lens on and off the PL mount).

My lens tech modified mine so that it doesn't allow the skewing anymore.

I would suggest to do the same thing! shimming the lens will fix that issue which can be apparent on very geometrical shots but other then that the lens has no mechanical or optical issues.

btw: price reduced!

Thanks Eric, but your claim that shimming the mount will increase sharpness and fix skewing doesn't make sense. As Norm said, will probably need repair/service.

Daniel,
I will find out what needs to be looked at, but so far this lens has been on so many projects and none of the directors or DP's have complaint about it.
It is more part of the anamorphic look. You can check it out on the video above how it looks in motion.

Very Best,
Eric

Thank you Nikolay!
I was told the same thing by people at Offhollywood that this is a non issue! and it can be fixed really easy.
As I said the optical and mechanics of the lens are in perfect condition, thats whats important.

Thats great if that's you're experience, but the techs in la charge a lot to pull apart a Lomo and align elements. And it's hard enough to find one who will even work on Lomos...

Guys,
all this is a non sense...... the roundfornt's skew can be fixed in few seconds.... so is the collimation.

Yes, there are several external adjustment points that allow for collimation; you really shouldn't have to tear the lens down for this adjustment. My 75mm has drifted a bit, but even without an autocollimator one should be able to straighten out these effects (I have original OCT19 mounts on all of my lenses). The extreme example of what you are seeing here is with the so-called "mesmerizer" lens that makes goofy fun-house effects for dream sequences or 1st-person drug induced hazes etc.

Daniel,
The only reason to take the lens apart ( anamorphic module we are talking ) is to align the anamorphic elements.
Here we are talking about the skew and backfocus collimation ,that you can easily do yourself following the instructions from the above link.
All the companies and specialists that charging big amounts for that ,just taking advantage of you not knowing how to.
Best Regards!
Nikolay

And that's what likely will needed since we are also talking about a soft image which the seller mentioned and can be seen in the samples.

The only thing needed, as I,Nikolay and people at Offhollywood said, would be a back focus adjustment by shiming the mount.
The lens is as sharp as it gets. The screenshots are taken from a compressed! video shot on 1920*1080.
This was not filmed on the red!
Also take into account that Anamorphics are not as sharp as spherical thats just the nature of ana.
Of course to get the most out out of this lens you film full frame RED and then you will end up with the best resolution.

What t-stop were those stills taken at?
