Logging essentials?

Hello guys I'm gonna act as logger on an upcoming shoot with RED.

I'll be using a Mac to off-load footage.

I remember reading about applications that ensures security of the footage and uses checksum and things I'm not that versed to check it.

I also plan on manually checking each take if time's enough.

I Google searched the forums but couldn't find anything relevant.
