To confuse things even more, I've got another question of the use of Redlog.
In VFX, I work with linear EXRs or linear TIFFs out of RedcineX or other application. When compositing I sometimes push the values above 1.0. That's okay if my final output is to a "normal" dpx log file, all the overbrights are preserved. If I apply a Lin2Redlog in the end of my composition, a lot of values stay above 1.0 if they were really bright. So my question is, can I use normal log curves instead of the redlog one? Cons?
