CLAi offer a unique location rental package to finish color grade your footage and high speed render it out for instant editing, in addition to our DIT services. We send out a very heavy duty Colorist Mac Pro system complete with a full speed REDRocket card and balanced dual graphics cards, on which we run Da Vinci Resolve Pro for up to 5k color grading and rendering, along with REDCine-X Pro and all of the main edit software from Avid, Final Cut and Adobe, all on wheels to be moved and set up anywhere. Of course, a grading system like this is no use without some experienced hands at the wheel so we also send out our Colorist to handle everything for you.
The advantages? Grade and render in any format from 1080P to 5k on location, next to the camera or in a separate area, allowing the Director, DP and clients to sign off on footage and colors then and there; construct looks with the Colorist and copy them back to the RED for shooting/monitoring in camera; and the big one... grade footage and render to 1080P ProRes 4:4:4:4 files in a Final Cut, Avid or Adobe format right there and then so you can start editing with perfectly finished footage - not some rough DIT's one light one or two days later - on location right as you shoot, or each evening after sequence reviews and notes, then only need to tweak the final shot by shot looks in your edit program at the end of the process.
The camera being used is immaterial to this process - the grading procedure is the same for Alexa, Sony 65, Canon C500 or whatever - but obviously, at CLAi we do know REDs very intimately indeed, from pre-production to master and everything in between! We are based in the San Francisco South Bay and serve San Francisco, San Jose and the Silicon Valley, but we also travel to Los Angeles and beyond...
The cost? Just $900/10hr day including all equipment and Colorist, plus travel, and we will package this system with our Epic and DIT services, and/or with our editing services for a top to tail instant solution. (nb.
