Hello all,
I am something of a DIT, though perhaps not in the sense of what might be considered a true Film DIT. Self taught through a strange career path!
I find myself performing quality checks on footage as to be expected, and more often with 4k footage.
I'm currently working with a 4k Sony F5 and find it difficult to determine between technical issues and aliasing from viewing 'downscaled' footage from a laptop. I want some clarity and I presume the best way is to get myself a proper monitor.
Is a HD monitor sufficient to quality check 4k footage? Will it produce artefacts from the downscale? SmallHD 702 perhaps?
I am a MacBook Pro user so am intending on purchasing a thunderbolt box of tricks to output from resolve or similar. Currently thinking the UltraStudio 4k from Black Magic.
Would love some input and advice.
Regards,
Matt
