LocaRed is looking into setting up a new edition of its Red One Bootcamp after the great feedback it got from last year edition in Paris. We're also offering a new training dedicated to stereoscopic filming using the Red cameras.

There is a first opportunity mid April for English speakers who would like to follow a 5-day training with LocaRed in Paris. But this has been decided lately as a group of 5 people insisted on us putting together this session rapidly and we can only take 2 more people on that one.

The Red stereoscopic training will be hold late April and this one is a first edition. The professor Alain Derobe (a well know French stereographer with 25 year experience in that field) will conduct this first session in French but we'll arrange with him another session towards the summer for English speakers. If you're interested in attending this first session in French please let us know rapidly as we have only a 3 spots left.

The regular LocaRed bootcamp session will take place this summer in Paris but the exact dates have not been set yet. We need to know from you how many people would interested so don't hesitate to make a connection with us right now in that regards.

Here is more info for those who are interested in the Red Bootcamp:

We'll be using our Red expertise to pass on as much information as we can to the trainees after having now worked for almost two years with 10 Red One camera packages in house and doing post production on Scratch all the way to filmouts. Our facility provides a wide range of setups (from studio to outdoors) and we'll obviously take advantage of the city amazing locations.

Thanks to our +50 Red projects including 2 features and large experience on various TV, docos, and commercial projects we'll be providing extensive training and practice to a group of 5-10 persons over a week time.

We'll be using fully geared Red camera package including various lens sets (Elite, Cooke, Zeiss, Angenieux, Red,…) along with several post-production stations including Scratch real time 2K.

Trainees will be given the possibility to test the camera under different kind of lighting setups and with a wide variety of professional equipment. Various film professionals like comedians, make-up artists and SFX will also be present during this bootcamp to put the trainees and the cameras under real filming conditions.

SysmicFilms will partner with LocaRed for this bootcamp to provide all necessary equipment for post-production of the Red footage during the training. A 2-minute filmout to 35mm from the actual bootcamp Red filming will be done by SysmicFilms and shown to the trainees at the Melies theatre on the last day.

We've already done 8 week training sessions in French as we've been validated late 2007 as the official Red One training center in France for French film and TV professionals.

Minimum HD or film camera work experience is required to attend these sessions. On a side note spring is a great time of the year to discover the city.

We’ll post photos of previous sessions and a complete info PDF soon with the detailed classes and schedule.

If you’re interested in any of these sessions please contact us at info@locared.com

Hi Arno, I'm very interested in the stereoscopic training you offer- will you keep me informed as to when this will happen?

Cheers,

James.

If you are interested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida I know of a facility that might work for you. Let me know your requirements and we'll see if it is a good match!

Doug

Hi Doug, Florida could work! I run a RED hire/support/operation company in the UK, and as both a DP and new business owner, I would like to be able to offer 3D services in the future to my clients (many of whom produce commercials for cinema) -I can't find the correct kind of training in the UK, so if you know of good training facilities where you are I would be very interested!

Basically, I would want to offer the full service, from 3D shooting through to post, and on-line/film out.

I have no previous 3D training, apart from building a couple of prototype lenses myself that emulate human stereoscopic-flat plane images (looks odd but awesome!)

The facility is ProDive at 429 Seabreeze Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. They have fairly large facilities and are very hooked into both the Art Institute (a great school for photography and cinematography) and the Broward County Film Alliance.

Follow this link to see what they are doing next month for Red One training. http://www.prodiveusa.com/red_one_boot_camp.html

While they offer their own programs, they are very generous about letting other groups use their facilities for nominal fees. In March PFI used their facilities for a 10 day workshop and they are hosting Fleet Week at the end of this month.

They have one editing bay but have access to dozens at the Art Institute.

The person to talk to at Pro Dive is Ryan. His number is 954-PRO-DIVE.

Let me know what you get cooking!

Doug

So we've completely booked the Red bootcamp starting next week, and we have only a couple of spots left for the stereocamp starting on the 24th (but remember this one is in French)

You'll find here the link to the PDF for the French Stereoscopic Red Bootcamp:
