Just curious if anyone has experimented with various live streaming workflow options. I suppose you could pull from the HDMI 720p output and compress but there has to be a better way, that's a lot of data to deal with. For example, with a Sony HVR-Z1U, you can simply set the firewire out to standard resolution while recording HDV to tape then you can convert/compress the DV footage in real-time for live internet streaming. Is there any way to record 4k with Red One while outputting a digital low-rez proxy in real time to a computer?

Please advise,

Red > SDI downconverter > sdi to DV box (promax) > Ichat.

I've used a similar set up for international casting sessions, and reviewing edits. It's clunkyish but it works.

Hi Mike:

I actually need an "on-the-go" solution meaning completely portable. We developed a custom backpack a few years ago that holds a laptop, Verizon Cards, batteries, GPS and etc. as well as all the software for managing the live streaming. Works great with the firewire out from most HDV cameras but I'm just trying to think how we might accomplish the same when shooting out in the field with the Red One. I'm guessing the solution above requeires a PCI tower and AC power.

Please advise,
