In the ASC articel about J.J. Abrams SUPER 8 I read the first time about LITEGEAR Products. They used the LiteCards to light a whole schoolbus at night.
Does anyone have any experiences with these fixtures?

The Hybrid technic where you can dimm the light or change the color tempretur (from 3000K to 6000K) without without effecting each other sounds great.
The form factor and power supply is awesome. Rigging in cars or tight spaces, but also creating very lightweight sources by placing Cards or Ribbons on a panel.

I read somewhere (I guess it was ASC articel about PUBLIC ENEMYS) that they used lightchaines taped onto a bounce card, to get a really soft fill.
Also different DPs reccomended using Lightchanes for interiour Car fill. The litegear stuff seems to be perfect for all of this.

Here you can see some rigging examples:

As Panels in a bar: http://www.litegear.com/literibbon-“on-the-job”-–-budweiser/

What do you think about the price:
$650 for a 5m ribbon Kit (with dimmer, power supply, etc.)

It's even cheaper then Coollights LED fixtures, more versitile, and even more lightweight.

Any opinions, experiences?

Don't know anything about them, but thanks very much for the interesting links!

I have my own little kit made from this stuff stuck to white corrugated plastic. I made 2 1X1 and 1 1X.5 from one spool of the ultrabrite leds. they put off a great light and pretty darn color correct through the dimmer 0 - 100%. I can't say enough good things about the product they produce. Now I can say that I have found LED ribbon light of the same quality on the web considerably cheaper. Light gears dimmers and power supplies are a lot cleaner and top notch from the stuff on the net. I guess if you were using "production money" vs. "your money" I would go hands down with light gear. If you need a nice light lite kit on the cheap. Search the net and make some yourself.

Your welcome Eric...
Dave I don't think you would hurt anyone if you would point to the product you mean.
Even if it's always production money I'm working with I like to save money to have some more left for spontaneous
Ideas. So if they are the same quality I'm very interested. If I get you right you suggest using Litegears power supplies and dimmers but the cheaper ribbons. Are these also hybrid - color temperature adjustable?

My question is much more basic. Apparently, you can attach leads to the lengths of the ribbon you need? How easy is that to do?

Finally, what is the brightness level of the ribbon??? Can we use Kino-flo equivalents or something?

Thanks Kim, this looks very interesting and modular. I had never heard of this brand before. The more I use LED lights, the more I love them, so I might give it a try some day.

Is there a way to power these with batteries ?

And Dave, I'd also like to know what cheaper equivalent alternatives you've found, I'm sure a lor of people would be interested. ;)

I have used these since Al made them in a beta form. Used them in cars for Green Hornet and then on Spiderman.

Just used Al's 4 foot X 4 foot foam core panel battery operated on a commercial before coming back to paris..... He has waterproof ribbons.

yes you could build it all yourself but Al has really worked hard on this.

A bientôt,

Peter
