I am a fan of commercials. Not all of them. The informative ones don't do much for me but the entertaining ones are as memorable as many movies.

When you list them, try to explain what happened during the commercial as best you can so those of us who may not have seen them can get some idea. Any era, any medium, any country.

I was really impressed with the newer Old Navy commercials. I think that the photography and the music and the stories all work really well together, especially when compared to Old Navy's commercials historically. I'd even stop what I was doing when they'd come on to watch them and commented several times to my girlfriend how well done I thought they were. Then I found out last week in the "Footage/Field Tests" section that they were shot on Red by Darius Khondji, who's always been on of my favorite cinematographers. I had no idea. My girlfriend was like, "well, you obviously know exactly what you like."

The Geico gecko always cracks me up.

I also notice a lot of really nice cinematography in pharmaceutical ads! I guess they have huge budgets and probably hire top DPs.

Target ads have nice MoCo and composite effects, but are getting a bit old now. For the most part, it's hard to critique things that I fast-forward through anyway.

Me too Tom. To me those commercials are on a par with a good "Calvin and Hobbes" or a "Bloom County" comic strip.

The Dow "Human Element" commercials look great. Evil has such a beautiful face, doesn't she.
