Hi all

I have a project that is using 1024 x 512 transcoded files from Red 2k files in compressor.

However i now need to re-link these to the 2k proxy files for the grade.

Is there any way to do this? The transcoded files do not have any _H,_M etc they are just the name of the clip so i dont think crimson will work.

Thanks in advance

Hi Thom

Sorry to trouble you again but i have a mixture of 2k and 4k material so dont want to always reconnect the _F file. Is there a way of splitting the conform down to _F files and _H files?

if you have the new color 1.5 you can just run the entire conform with H files and do all your scaling in the geometry>pan & scan room of color and it recognizes the difference between 2k and 4k material (you'll see the scaling 100%=1 for 2k within a 2k timeline and 100%=2 for 4k) otherwise for old color you'll want to reconnect the F proxies by hand before sending to color.

Or if it's possible pull the 2k material to it's own track and run a different xml for that footage doing a sub with _F and _H for the rest!

Hope that helps!

Hi Thom

I pulled all the 4K and 2K material apart then ran through clipfinder and replaced with appropriate _F or _H material then brought XML back into FCP and some shots were half the size they should be. I have triple checked the original and 4K shots that i have brought are appearing half the size they should. Some work perfectly and some dont!!

Any ideas

clipfinder: http://www.daun.ch/software/

under tools>run conform on fcp xml file

good luck!

Do I export an XML from FCP, import that into Clipfinder, then do the Run Conform function? What happens next? Does this generate an XML that I can take into Color and start grading using the 2K proxy files? I'm grading a short film that was edited from transcoded ProRes QTs, but I'd like to be able to use the R3D files to adjust ISO, etc. in Color in the Red tab.

First you export a XML from FCP. Then in ClipFinder 'Run Conform on FCP XML file...'. You define your path to your original R3Ds (and their proxies), and for 2k select connect to H proxies. When you run the conform, ClipFinder creates a new XML that links to H proxies that can be imported into Final Cut. Once open in FCP you can send to Color, grade with the RED tab, and round trip.

I did a test last night with the latest beta build of ClipFinder (2.2 beta 6k), and when I tried opening the conformed ClipFinder XML, I got an 'Out of Memory' error in Final Cut. When I tried the same conform with the release version (2.1.16), it worked great.

Strange... would you mind mailing me the original and conformed XML so I can investigate ? (my mail address is in the Clipfinder help pages (CMD-?))

Cheers,
Hans

I'm getting a weird problem. In Color, when I open up the XML generated by Clipfinder, clips that are duplicated on the timeline only show up the first time. Any instance of the clip after that is marked by a red box with a red X in it, and only black shows up in the viewer window.
