Link Media results in only partial clip viewable.

I am trying to reconnect in Premiere after grading in Resolve, and I am getting some strange results at times. I have no idea if I am approaching this wrong, but it has worked before. Workflow:

Edit .R3d in Premiere

Export edl

Grade in Resolve and export quicktime

Open edit in Premiere, make 1080 timeline, attempt to Link Media



When I Link Media it results in some of the clips randomly going black for large portions of the clip when played, and have diagonal lines through the portion that plays black in the timeline. (screen attached)

I have successfully done this before, but I randomly get the black in some clips now, but only for a portion of it.

Am I having problems because I my initial edit is a 4k timeline, then later I am trying to use a 1080 timeline?

Anyone else experience this? Am I making a mistake somewhere along the line?
