Attached is a jpg of a problem we had on 3 clips shot on our C Camera yesterday. The Line appeared on only 3 clips, we shot many before and after without this issue. The line is not only one color, it seemed to shift somewhat to the color of whatever was behind it.
Camera has a original Mysterium chip on build 30.4.1
Setting are 4K 16:9 RC36 23.98

Any reason for this come to mind?

Hi Noah,

I've had the same issue quite awhile ago with some footage shot on build 20. Just like your case, it was only on three clips out of like three hundred or so.

The producer told me that they weren't going to use those clips anyways, so I didn't bother to file a tech support ticket. Also, the camera used wasn't mine (shot overseas), so I didn't have access to the log file.

I'm curious to hear more about this since you experienced it on Build 30.

Has been submit. Do you mean the zoom function for the on board monitor?

@ Noah - I'm pretty sure Cail is talking about the 1:1 magnify/zoom function. This problem happened to us the other day as well - it went away after blackshading and a reboot.

I've come across the same problem. Not visible on HD monitor (Panasonic 2550) when viewing in Rocket Cine-X from full rez (or the Baselight Transfer on 42" Plasma) but when zoomed in, it becomes visible. It looks like a single column of pixels. Rendered a 4K DPX and it was visible but 2K DPX it was not. Has anyone had to fix this in post yet?

Hmm, seems a few of these are cropping up. Here's another thread I posted to showing a similar event:

http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41911

And my problem occurred after I couldn't get out of zoom mode, so it's possible there's a bug somewhere in the zoom functionality causing a deeper issue to corrupt footage.

We also had some footage once a long time ago that exhibited a centre line like your example. I wasn't on the shoot it happened on, but a wire removal function in After Effects fixed it right up so don't lose hope if it happens!

Fingers crossed Red figures it out soon.

Unfortunately it look like we really need this coverage in our scene. Re shooting is not possible, our set are down and the extras have gone home! I've sent the footage off to RED so they can help us understand why this has happened, I'll post any information they give us as it seems a few other have had the same issue.
As for our shot, once we have a cut locked we'll send it to our visual effects house to fix. Were shooting 4K 16:9 and finishing in 1080p so I imagine some line doubling or other visual effect magic is in order.

Can you email me so we can take a look at the clip?

Submit a ticket; it happened to us on a show recently; apparently it's to do with using the zoom function too close to rolling in our case...

I'm disabling the zoom on all upcoming shoots as a precaution.

Was there any fix to the footage? What was Reds stance?

I've just come across footage with the same issue. I've sent a support ticket to RED but would love to know if anyone has found the exact cause or any easy solution for handling the footage?

Build 21.4.1 it looks exactly the same as what Noah was seeing in his footage.

After talking to the 1st AC, it looks like it happened straight after they encountered a Codec Error on record and it stopped once we changed media.

Codec errors

Codec errors

We did identify a potential path to induce codec errors (enter record mode directly from MAGNIFY), resolved in Build 30.

As a comment, it's best not to speculate on root causes of any issue, its often completely un-related to what is suggested.

If you are seeing any problems with a camera, PLEASE contact RED tech support.

Nothing to add at this stage CJ, except that this has a very, very low frequency of occurrence.

Not sure that it has been seen under B30 v30.5.0 though.
