Line Out Wiring ...

I'm really surprise to see in the Red camera's Manual the switchcraft TA5 (MiniXLR5) LINE OUT wiring ...

1 : LEFT +
2 : GND
3 : LEFT -
4 : RIGHT +
5 : RIGHT -

Because The classic wiring used in the Audio World is :

1 : GND
2 : LEFT +
3 : LEFT -
4 : RIGHT +
5 : RIGHT -

So just one question : Why ?

I hope it's just a mistake in the manual .......

It is not a mistake in the manual as we have an output lead made to the manual's spec and it works fine...

Not stupid, just non-standard audio wiring as far as "standards" go! :violent:

Not meaning to flame RED.com... but is seems odd to me that a company making such expensive gear would stray away from accepted standards like XLR rather than mini-XLR, non standard wiring for the Line Outs, etc.

It didn't seem like a stretch to incorporate standardized connectors within the same frame... and what about the issues with multiple builds for audio boards???

I think I'll stick to my HVX200A a little longer

But as its a non standard connector, why would you care if its a "non standard" pin out... you have to make an adaptor cable anyway.

isn't the only relevant issue here whether it works or not?
