  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Limewire owes $1Billion. And BP owes less than $100M.

Just got a response mail today:

Interesting quote and the author on the bottom of the page.

I say 'let us all leave our cars and motorbikes at home and walk from now on'.. if we do not use gasoline, there will not be any need to drill for oil in the future. But can I live without my vehicles? Can you?

I would prefer a marketplace that provides me options in which I don't have to depend on my car.

Just to throw in another dot to connect or not:

...perhaps we should also ask how much we ourselves have contributed and contribute to the demand for oil directly and indirectly with the conveniences of our lifestyle, our gluttonous vehicles, our profligate energy use, etc -- as well as our lack of political engagement, our sucking at the corporate teats that basically have purchased our government and rewritten the rules in their favor. All of this feeding directly into our debilitating militarism that penetrates our economy far more deeply than most recognize. (BP is one of our largest military contractors, along with Halliburton of course.)

I wish it weren't so, but I fear it will have to get a lot worse before we can change. Privilege is hard to give up, and rarely is given up voluntarily. Most people regard their privilege as sacred, the other's guys as greedy and profane. Human denial is a wall that is rarely nicked, never mind penetrated, by a bullet of truth.

Maybe mother nature's rebellion against our onslaught of abuses will ultimately safe us from ourselves.

Seems nobody commented on this yet. I think Rod has addressed a serious point that is no fun to discuss. The best word to describe the average American (myself most definitely included) is CONSUMER. It's hard to tell when we went wrong, but by a collective return to ethical consumption, we can make a difference. Live as locally as possible, know what you're buying and where it's coming from, grade companies first and foremost on their human rights and environmental records. I think in this regard, Behringer is a model for their transparency and commitment to human dignity.
