  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

***LIGHTS GROUP BUY 35% OFF NO TAXES to you***

Hi Walter,

the MiniPars have the same 3w led that the Brute 9 has, but the it is not only of a matter of 3 vs 9 led, it is also a factor of lenses.

The lenses on the MiniPar are interchangeble 3 different ones come in a set and the lens on the Brute 9 are fixed.

It is like the lenses that come with the HMI Pars, different lens different light output brightness.

I do not know who may have them close to you.

The best bet is to get in contact with Malcolm, He is the Executive Vice President of LED-Z and I'm sure will have your answers.

Also the deal structure has just changed today and I wil start a different post maby making it a stycky.

The new aggreement I'm making with al the companies that I'm dealing with all purchase for KETCHFRAME STUDIOS and passing on the discount to all REDUSER members will be as follow:

No limit on purchase date, this means the deal stays on indefinatelly.

No purchase true me or my company necessery, you will contact the manufacturer and purchase direct at your convinience.

Truly hope this will benefitt all of you.

Are there any samples of images shot with these LEDz lights? Everytime I've been at a show looking at LED lights they totally extract life from the subject... meaning they make the subject look dead - lights can vary though, so I'm open to seeing more LED lights and having them be amazing.

How do the flourescents here compare to Kino's? I saw some lowell flourescents which just didn't have the same quality as kino.

Yes the Brute 9 were used at LART, but they were used with gels and also used as bounce not as a direct light source in to the subjects, also they were mixed with other light fixtures as well such as some of the Filmgear Fresnel Tungstens and others.

This are particularly strong LEDs and I like very much and so did all at LART, they do not compare to any other led lights I have seen or try.

But each need and likes are different, so we must each make our own informed opinion about it.

I suggest that if there is possibility for you to test them out you should do that, the company is based in Burbank California but again if you contact Malcolm I'm sure He can direct you to a place were they could have them closer to you.

This is a brand new product and it is going great but it is not every were yet.

The CEO and President, Karl Shultz and Executive Vice President Malcolm Mills brought this units to as at LART so we could test them out on set and again I personally love them and my Light package will be predominantely made of this units.

Here are a few shots of them at LART.

Hi Ketch

Thanks for all this organizing. Any word on the Matthews stuff. I am planning a purchase as well and I would love to be able to beat B&H prices on grip gear. I love matthews stuff. But if you buy through them directly they charge you list price and refuse to match B&H's prices (go figure).

P.S. Too bad you didn't inlude 5600 in your companies to do business with. I was thinking of getting some Jokers.

Hey TheThe,

I will know next week if my deal with Matthews will be done, if it is I surely do beat B&H prices by 15% I hope, this it is not done yet as I still have to finilize the deal with the head of MSE.

I will see what I can do about 5600.

B&H is my only trusted store for all my gear especially photography and specialty items, they have still to fail me once, great company, great store, great service and most of all best prices, but if and when I can get a better deal right from the manufacturer, then I must take advantage of that too.

And in the case of my recent deals already done and about to be done I love to include all of you fellow REDUSER.

Ketch,

I noticed in the Schneider thread you mentioned a filter deal. You also mentioned this may include Formatt. Please post here when you find out if this is the case.

Thanks!

If you can beat B&H for total cost (items plus shipping) I'd be super impressed and would want to know! Case in point: I can get four complete Matthews sliding leg C-stand kits (with arms and grips) for $650, that's under $165 a piece including shipping! It's crazy that B&H can ship them to me for that total price from NY for less than what anyone else will ship them to me from LA, and I'm in Oregon!

Hey Curran,

I will know tomorrow if this is possible, at tis time I don't have the answer to that, I know of the Schneider and Tiffens for sure but will confirm tomorrow both about Formatt availability and general price deal as well.

Shawn, I also will be taking care of few other deals in the next few days to include Matthews, Avenger, American and more.

I sure hope to be able to beat B&H (again it remanes my favorite store for many items especially photography) but I will know only after confirming the deal with the various companies, but I'm almost positive that I can do this.

I would be careful with B&H. They just sent me a defective USED item that was sold as new on their website. They are making me jump through hoops to send it back and acting like it is completely my problem. Customer service is very rude.

It's a classic bait and switch. Are they perhaps under new management or something?

Thank you Ketch.

Yes, I am extremely busy!!!

We are week's away from launching a full DMX/Dimmerble and manual control box for the LEDZ Brute9 units and are very excited about this.

We are also proud to annaounce the formation of our LEDZ Europe arm based out of the UK, serving Europe, Middle East and Africa. All LEDZ units work on 110-240v AC.

The filter frame for the Brute9 will also be available end of December '07.

The brute9 configurations are as follows:

Brute9 - single unit
Brute9 DUO - two units
Brute9 QUAD - four units

Thanks.

Malcolm Mills

Hi Malcolm,

Will the discount Ketch mentioned be available through LEDZ Europe? or would it just be cheaper to buy direct from the States?

adam

Hey Adam,

I can answer that Q? for you.

The deal I have with LED-Z is a deal made with my company KETCHFRAME STUDIOS, so any deal any other company makes with them will likely not better my deal and because of this as they have to make money when selling they will not give you a better price on this units, but it is worth a try, let me know.

Again I doubt that this could be possible as I'm passing on a deal as a distributor it is just that I will not try to make a profit in selling gear to my fellow REDUSERs, I do hope to profit from all of you when you pay to see my projects.

Hi Ketch!,

I wasn't trying to better your deal :) (that you very kindly brokered for us) I just wanted to know if it would be cheaper to get the lights from LED-Z in the US or from their UK office. My thinking is that it'll probably be better to buy from the US as we in the UK are getting a lot more due to the current state of the dollar.

best,

adam

Adam,

I assure you the reason I have this deal and those to come offered to all REDUSERs is only so to do what I can to help evry one get more for their bucks, I absolutely make and will not want to make any profits from any of the sales to all of you by the companies with hum I'm making and in the process of making this great deals.

My intention is to pass on my deals originally and intentionally made for the benefit of my company as is in the process of making a substantial move for which will require the purchase of an impressive amount of gear, in this I include all REDUSERs.

The prices made available to me and in return to you are prices directly offered to my company as an entertainment company which may also resell or rent the gear purchased.

On the other hand on what you purchase in the US from Europe you will make a great deal of savings from my discounts and taxes, but you must calculate the International shipping first and most importantly what your country could charge you for importing this items from the US.

The import tax alone in Europe can sometime be as much and as 20%.

So make sure you take in consideration all this aspects before ordering.

I understood this from the beginning Ketch :). It was just that I saw that Malcolm mentioned that LED-Z have a UK office and I wondered if their would be much difference by the time import duty and VAT are applied.

Once again, thanks for going to all the trouble, you're a credit to this community and I sincerely hope that you have a much better 2008 than the misfortune that you suffered earlier.

I feel sorry for you, but I have spent many thousands of dollars at B&H over the last 5 years and they've always treated me perfectly.

Shawn I second you 100% as do to my extensive experience with B&H all has been great in this past years considering the staggering amount of business I conducted with them.

This said I must also support crewPix.com as B&H it is huge(an entire block) and has a force of workers of which not all are knowledge of the products they sale, several times I knew more then they deed, at times understandible at times frustrating.

I also had few events in which I had to speak to several people finally reaching to the department Manager in order to resolve an issue.

A perfect example was the recent purchase of the Canon 1D III photography camera, they charged my CC for an overnight delivery of the "IN STOCK" camera in question which turned out not to be in stock.

I had an important shoot the very next day for which I wanted and needed that camera so I lunched a complain as they not only did not have it in stock as advertise but they could not locate one for me.

In short I was transfered to the Manager of the entire department and the next day I had my camera delivered.

So B&H come true again, but it was frustrating for a bit that they listed an item "IN STOCK" and for that I didn't look any were else for it till was too late when I got the e-mail back to confirm the computer error.

But at last it was taken care of, now I know they must also looked at my account and find out the heavy purchases made with them and considered that as well, but I do believe that if you go a step further then the "rude clerk" you will find great service and costumer support after all.

I'm also sorry of your experience and hope for you this will not happen again but if it does, don't stop at the person that is rude to you, go further, B&H is a Big place, take it to the person above the one you are speaking with, and I'm sure it will get resolved.

So have I. It wasn't just one of the telephone minions that was rude to me, the manager of customer service basically called me a liar and very much made their deception my problem.

That is why I was asking if they were under new management.

I think Markertek (www.markertek.com) will be getting more of my business.
